The AT & AEM Center participates in a number of national projects and and grants to advance the mission of providing assistive technology and accessible educational materials to students. These projects include: Federal Quota, the BEST Grant, the Best Practices Cohort and Targeted Technical Assistance projects with the National Center on Accessible Educational Materials.

BEST Grant

The Braille Excellence for Students and Teachers (BEST) Grant is a statewide project of professional development and technical assistance dedicated to braille literacy, braille instruction, braille materials, and braille technology in Ohio schools.

Best Practices Cohort with the National AEM Center

Ohio is currently participating in a Best Practices Cohort with the National AEM Center. Participation was by invitation and includes seven other states who have shown best or promising practices in the delivery of AEM to students across the state.

Targeted Technical Assistance Project

The National Center on Accessible Educational Materials has provided opportunities for a limited number of states to participate in technical assistance programs. Ohio participated with the center along with nine other states in a targeted technical assistance project from 2013-16.
