Description

The 12- week basic Braille course will provide educators and beginning transcribers the opportunity to improve their braille skills, while addressing the needs of students who are blind, visually impaired or deafblind. The course will be offered with traditional face-to-face instruction and/or online or a combination of both. The course will provide basic instruction in braille for educators and support staff incorporating Unified English Braille (UEB). Knowledge of the braille alphabet is a plus. The course will introduce the braille alphabet, capitalization, paragraphing, punctuation, cardinal numbers, one-cell whole-word contractions, whole-word contractions, part-word contractions, ordinal numbers, whole-word lower sign contractions, part-word lower sign contractions, short-form words, and some formatting.
